Agroforestry in the Netherlands - The many benefits of hedgerows
Marieke Jelsma and her parents run a dairy farm in Twijzel (the Netherlands). On the farm, they use existing hedgerows from historic farms with blackberry bush, honeysuckle and alder trees to their advantage.
The plants help free the cows, provide shade and improve soil quality by fixing nitrogen while the family receives a stewardship stipend from the government to upkeep the hedges.
This video was produced for the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality and subtitled with the support of the AGROMIX project.
